PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- The Castleton University women's ice hockey team dropped a 1-0 overtime non-conference decision to Plymouth State Friday afternoon at Hanaway Rink.
 
The Spartans (5-5-1) would outshoot the Panthers (3-3-1) throughout the three scoreless periods of play. With the Spartans creating multiple goal scoring opportunities, the team recorded 40 shots on goal while holding the Panthers to just 21.
 
The Panthers applied the pressure during the five minutes of extra time as the team tallied four shots on goal while holding the Spartans to no goal scoring opportunities. With the game still scoreless at the end of the third period, the Panthers broke the deadlock at the 2:34 mark of the overtime period. After an initial shot by Carson Moffett, Georgia McLellan followed the play and swept in the rebound past goaltender Katlyn Hathaway.
 
Hathaway stopped 24 of 25 shots in 62:30 minutes of action while Amelia Julian earned her first collegiate win and tallied 40 saves.
 
Castleton returns to action Saturday, March 20, as it takes on Plymouth State at Spartan Arena. The puck is scheduled to drop at 1 p.m.
