JEFFERSONVILLE, Vt. – The Castleton University men's alpine team had three skiers in action on Tuesday, as a trio of rookies took to the trails of Smuggler's Notch for a pair of FIS Slalom races.

Carl Setterstrom,
Jackson Frazier and
Evan Toman competed twice each in FIS National Junior Races, competing against the top under-21 racers in the state. Toman led the way for the Spartans with 48th-place and 32nd-place finishes, while Frazier turned in a 38th-place result in the day's second race after failing to finish the first. Setterstrom recorded two DNF results on the day.

In the opener, Toman logged the only finish for the Spartans with a time of 1:58.59 after times of 59.45 and 59.14. He followed the performance up by moving up the leaderboard 16 places in the second race, posting a time of 2:03.54 on runs of 1:00.25 and 1:03.29. Frazier notched a time of 2:25.85 after times of 1:21.35 and 1:04.50. The rookie was piecing together a solid first run in the race, but had to hike up after missing a gate to complete the course and earn a second run.
