Box Score RUTLAND, Vt. – The Castleton University women's tennis team fell by a final tally of 7-2 to the Plymouth State Panthers on Thursday afternoon in its third straight match at the Grand Slam Tennis Arena. Castleton falls to 2-2 on the year, while Plymouth State rises above .500 at 2-1.
Megan Nadler continued to be a crutch the Spartans can lean on, winning handily at second singles. The Rutland, Vt. native cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory, thoroughly dominating her opponent and moving to 4-0 individually in 2017.
In doubles, the sophomore fell for the first time (3-1) as she partnered with freshman Danarose Weaver. The duo was befallen by a break, coming up short 8-6.
Picking up a point for Castleton at doubles was the first team of Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk. They were able to earn a pair of breaks and collect a fairly comfortable 8-4 win.
Women's tennis will wrap up their current five-match home stand and last match prior to conference play at 3 p.m. on Saturday against Lyndon State.
