CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University field hockey team scored seven goals in the first half en route to a 10-0 win over nonconference opponent Becker College on Sunday afternoon. Castleton improves to 5-5, while Becker is now 0-7.

Seven different scorers led Castleton in scoring the team's most goals since Sept. 4, 2016, in a 10-1 win over Daniel Webster College. The Spartans have now won three games in a row.

Notching the first goal of the day, Mariah Linnett moved into the arc, crossed the ball to Cydney Jeffrey, who scored. It was her first of the day and opened the floodgates early as Gabriella Hunt tallied her fourth goal of the year off a Sarah Wells pass just three minutes later.

Also scoring for Castleton was Mia Sanborn, Casey Traill (2), Allison Lowell (2), Madison Langey, while Jeffrey added a second tally.

Notching the Spartans final goal of the game in the 67th minute for her first-career goal was Erica Hoffman. The defender tapped the ball in past the goalie's left side.

Leah Holland and Mikayla Hull split time in the cage, making one save combined in 70 minutes of playing time. For Becker, Alexis Barry made 13 saves, while facing 23 shots on goal.

Field hockey returns to action for an all-important conference matchup at the University of Maine at Farmington at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
