Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Versus Sage

CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's tennis program suffered its second straight loss on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 6-3 match versus Sage, in the final match before the North East Atlantic Conference-East tournament on Oct. 8.

The loss puts Castleton at 7-6 on the season, while remaining at 4-3 in the conference. Sage improves to 4-5 on the year with the win.

The Spartans gained an edge in doubles, taking two out of three points. Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk improved to 2-2 on the season after taking first flight doubles 9-7. Megan Nadler and Kayla Zsido remain undefeated with a 3-0 record in doubles action after taking their match by a score of 9-7.

Nadler earned the third point for the Spartans in doubles and Zsido came close after taking one set in No. 4 singles, but the Gators of Sage took the final five points of the match to secure the victory.

With plenty of action around the NEAC East, the Spartans will wait to determine their place in the final conference standings. The tournament will consist of the top-four teams, with Castleton currently sitting in fifth.
