CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton women's tennis team collected their fourth straight victory this evening, defeating MCLA in a NEAC East matchup by a final of 7-2.

The win moves the Spartans to 2-1 in NEAC East play and 6-1 overall. MCLA now falls to 2-1 in NEAC East action, while moving to 5-3 on the season.

The Spartans got off to a good start, taking two out of three doubles matches to begin the day. Sara Novenstern and Jackie Lisak came from behind to win at the top flight, 8-4. Ciara Bannister and Kirsten Kruk kept things rolling, collecting an 8-3 victory in the No. 2 spot. Dianne Benedicto and Gabrielle Welch fell in the three-hole to opponents to Rebecca Waterhouse and Anna Despart.

In singles play, Emily Deaso earned the lone Trailblazer victory, taking down Novenstern in the top spot. Castleton would sweep the second-through-sixth spots, with Meg Susslin, Lisak, Bannister, Benedicto, and Kruk all winning in straight sets.

Castleton will be back in action when they take on Saturday when they host Thomas. Match time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
