Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Spartans put together arguably their most complete performance of the year as they swept SUNY Cobleskill 3-0 on Wednesday evening in the team's Dig Pink match at Glenbrook Gym.
Castleton hit .206 with 40 kills in the match while also accumulating 54 digs, seven aces and six blocks as the team improved to 9-7. The defense, meanwhile, limited the Fighting Tigers to just -.020 hitting with 35 digs and five aces as they dropped to 5-14 overall.
The Spartans registered 14 kills in the first set en route to a 25-15 victory and then held off Cobleskill in the second set, 25-20. The Fighting Tigers kept it close for a while but Castleton eventually pulled away in the third for the 25-17 win.
Brittany Brayman hit .321 and matched a career-high with 16 kills while also recording six digs and four block assists. Kristi Lawless led the defense with 12 digs and two aces while Cassidy Tedeschi had five kills, ten digs and six total blocks. Alex Madsen dished off a career-best 35 assists to go with nine digs and senior Amanda Chambers contributed ten digs and nine kills.
Kasey Williams led Cobleskill by hitting .375 with six kills while Raven Worthing added six kills, five digs and three blocks but had nine errors as she hit -.125. Gabby Clark led the defense with 12 digs while Sarah Ruggles dished off 11 assists and recorded three aces.
Castleton is back at home on Sunday, hosting Lyndon and Johnson St. in a conference quad match beginning at 12 pm.
