Spartans Stumble at Plymouth St.

HOLDERNESS, N.H. – Castleton's women's tennis team dropped its second contest of the season on Tuesday, losing to Plymouth St. 9-0 in a non-conference match.

The Spartans struggled throughout the entire contest, not picking up a single point in the affair. The Panthers won five singles matches in straight sets and picked up an 8-0 victory in the No. 1 doubles match.

Gabrielle Keyser battled for three sets in sixth flight singles action, picking up her first singles loss of the season – 3-6, 6-4, 0-1 (5-10). In doubles play, the tandem of Olga McIntyre and Sara Novenstern fell just short of picking up their fourth doubles victory, falling 7-9 in the No. 2 doubles match.

With the loss, the Spartans are now 5-2 on the season and remain 1-0 in NEAC East action. Castleton returns to the courts this weekend when they travel to Thomas for conference action on Saturday and Southern Maine for a non-conference contest on Sunday.
