Box Score PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Castleton gave up an early goal and never was able to recover as they dropped a 4-1 non-conference decision to Plattsburgh St. on Saturday evening.
The Spartans gave up a goal just 8:38 into the contest as they dropped to 0-4 on the season. The Cardinals improved to 3-2 on the year with the victory. Castleton was outshot 21-9 in the contest and earned two corner kicks.
Nick Economou opened the scored in the ninth minute, heading it into the net off a cross from Nelson Vetter. Plattsburgh St. added to its lead in the 44th minute as Chris Bowden trapped the ball with his chest before ripping it into the net.
In the second half the Cardinals extended their lead at 50:07, as Alexis Archilla stole the ball and then chipped it over keeper Dan Palker for the goal. Archilla added to his total four minutes with a bicycle kick to the back of the net.
The Spartans got on the board in the 87th minute as Vinny Addonisio played a ball up the sideline to Blake Hart. Hart then dribbled and fired it past John Toper for the goal.
Palker took the loss in net, allowing four goals and making six saves. Freshman Aaron Parker played the final nine minutes of action and made one stop. Mitchell Jordan earned the win for Plattsburgh St. making three saves.
Castleton returns to action on Saturday when the team hosts Plymouth St. at 4 pm.
