Rutland, Vt. - Castleton sent off their graduating skaters with a 4-0 win over Plymouth St. in its final home game of the regular season. Senior Allie Howard and graduating junior Taylor Skelton each tallied an assist after being honored in pre-game ceremonies.

Jess Cameron finished with 18 saves and no goals allowed to earn the win in 56:32 between the pipes before being pulled for freshman Rachael Brazil. Brazil finished with one save in the final 3:28 of the game. Ali Ponte posted her fourth 40-save game of the season but took the loss for Plymouth St.

The Spartans outshot the Panthers 44-19 on the evening, and notched a combined special teams mark of 5-for-10. The Spartans capitalized on 1-of-6 power play chances and were a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Castleton took a 1-0 lead in the first with a power play goal from Rachel Bombardier. On the power play, Lisa Buratynski slid the puck along the blue line to Samantha Pion. Pion ripped a slap shot that Ponte barely got a blocker on. Bombardier slipped from screening the goalie to backhand the puck into the net to give the Spartans a 1-0 advantage.

In the second period, Castleton continued to pile on the shots, tallying 24 throughout the frame. Samantha Pion added to the Spartan lead with a nifty deke around Ponte to score two minutes into the second. Anna Daniels added her team-leading 13th goal of the season to put Castleton ahead 3-0. On a penalty kill, Nicoline Jensen intercepted a blue line pass and dished it up to Daniels who beat Ponte five-hole for her third short-handed goal of the season. The shorty tied Daniels for the Castleton single-season record for SH goals (3) and the Castleton career SH mark (4).

Jensen added a goal in the third period to extend the Spartan lead to 4-0. Anna Daniels won a board battle behind the net and found Lisa Kilroy in the right slot, Kilroy slammed the puck off the boards just wide of the net, but Jensen was waiting in the left slot to bury the puck as it bounced off the boards.

The Spartans improve to 13-8-2 on the season, 8-4-2 in the conference, and have clinched a home playoff game for the quarterfinal round of the ECAC East tournament. The Spartans could advance as high as the second seed in the tournament if they continue winning. Castleton will return to action on Friday, February 14 when they travel to St. Michael's. They finish the regular season with a trip to Norwich on February 15.
