WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Castleton snapped its three-game winless streak on Sunday afternoon as Jess Cameron pushed aside 32 shots to lead the Spartans to a 1-0 victory over Williams College.

The Spartans improved to 6-3-1 overall after producing their fifth shutout of the year, while the Ephs' record dropped to 1-3 with the loss. Even though Williams outshot Castleton 32-21, the Spartans were able to kill off all five of their penalties and capitalize on their only power play opportunity to capture the victory.

The lone goal of the contest was scored at the 16:35 marker in the opening frame when Taylor Steadman netted her team-leading ninth goal of the year. With a 5-on-4 advantage, the junior forward gathered the puck from a scramble in front of the net and finished it home to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead.

Castleton managed to stifle the Williams attack for the remaining 43 minutes of play en route to the Spartans recording their second road victory of the season.

Cameron was fantastic between the pipes for Castleton as the junior netminder produced her second shutout of the year to improve to 4-2 overall. Christina Cleroux, meanwhile, suffered the loss for the Ephs after making 19 saves in her collegiate debut.

The Spartans return to the ice on Saturday at Spartan Arena when they square off with in-state foes Middlebury for a non-conference contest beginning at 1 pm.
