Box Score NEWPORT, R.I. – The Spartans finished their weekend road tip with a loss at Salve Regina on Saturday evening, as the hosts scored four goals in the third period to grab a 6-2 victory.
With the loss, Castleton drops to 5-3-1 overall (3-2-1 ECAC East), whereas Salve Regina improves to 3-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Spartans were outshot 39-28 and gave up two power play goals in the contest.
After falling behind 2-0 in the game, Castleton finally found the back of the net midway through the second period when Taylor Steadman cut the visitors deficit to one at 10:11 into the middle frame.
Less than two minutes later, Steadman tacked on her second goal of the game and team-leading eighth goal of the year to even the contest at 2-2.
In the third period, however, the Seahawks took control of the game as they grabbed four goals in the final three minutes of play to capture a 6-2 victory.
Jess Cameron, who is now 3-2 on the season, picked up the loss for Castleton after recording 33 saves in the losing effort. Colleen Marcik improved to 2-2 on the year by making 26 saves in the win for Salve Regina.
Castleton returns to the ice on Sunday, November 30 when it plays at Williams College for a non-conference contest beginning at 3 pm.
