Field Hockey Falls to Husson 5-0

BANGOR, Maine  – The Spartans gave up an early goal and were never able to recover as they dropped a 5-0 decision to Husson in North Atlantic Conference Action on Saturday evening. 

The Eagles scored in just the sixth minute of play and held Castleton to just eight total shots and nine penalty corners as they improved to 4-5 and 2-0 in the NAC. The Spartans meanwhile gave up 24 shots and 14 penalty corners as they dropped to 0-7 this year. 

Taylor Shaw put Husson on the board just 5:28 into the game off a feed from Kayla Royer. The Eagles added goals from Hannah Jordan and Taylor Lovely to take a 3-0 lead at the end of the half. 

Castleton gave up goals in the 52nd and 60th minutes as the lead expanded to five. The Spartans did have a penalty corner in the last two minutes but couldn't convert. 

Jess Galatioto took the loss in net, making nine saves while allowing all five goals. Abby Greenleaf earned the win by stopping eight shots without giving up a goal. 

The Spartans return to action on Sunday at 1 pm against St. Joseph's.
