Box Score 2 LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Castleton split with Johnson St. and Lyndon on the final weekend of the regular season, with a 3-0 victory over the Badgers and a 3-2 loss to the host Hornets on Saturday.
The Spartans move to 9-13 overall and conclude conference play with a 3-3 mark, tied with Lyndon and Husson for third in the conference standings.
Castleton opened the day with a dominant 25-8 25-13 and 25-9 victory over the Badgers. In that match, Kristi Lawless was impressive with a career-high nine service aces, as well as five digs. Cassidy Tedeschi added seven kills while hitting .429 and Amanda Chambers had four kills with ten digs.
In the game's second match the Spartans took the opening set 25-21 but dropped the second 25-22. They came back to take the third by a 25-22 margin before Lyndon captured the fourth set 25-22. In the final set, the Hornets came through for the 15-10 victory.
Against the Hornets Kaylee Pratt hit .357 with 13 kills and two blocks, while Tedeschi had 14 kills and seven blocks while hitting .290. Michaela Babineau had a double-double with 22 assists and ten digs. Chambers led the team with 22 digs and Lawless chipped in with 20.
The Spartans return to the court on Wednesday when they host Norwich at 6 pm on senior day.
