NEW LONDON, N.H. – Freshman Briana Bocelli scored the game-winning goal with 4:28 left in the game to lift Castleton to a 2-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory over Colby-Sawyer on Saturday afternoon at the Sally Shaw Veitch Turf Field.

The win secures Castleton a spot in the NAC Tournament with a 2-3 conference record and improves them to 2-13 on the season. Colby-Sawyer ends its season at 7-10 overall and 1-4 in the NAC.

Bocelli put home the game-winner off a rebound after Colby-Sawyer keeper Jodi Dumayne made the initial stop on a shot from senior Kristy Pinkham.

The Spartans raced out to an early 1-0 lead, scoring at 2:31 in the first frame. Freshman Rachel Holland sent a pass across the goal mouth, which was collected by junior Emily Hudson. Hudson then deposited her third goal of the season into the right corner of the cage.

Colby-Sawyer knotted the score in the 14th minute on senior Nykki Stritzinger's team leading eighth goal of the season.

Castleton goalie Jess Galatioto made five saves in the victory, while Dumayne had eight stops for the Chargers.

The Spartans have now earned the No. 4 seed in the upcoming NAC Tournament and face top-seeded Husson on Sat. at a time to be determined in Bangor, Maine.
