Spartans Fall 8-1 to Plattsburgh St.

Castleton, Vt. - The Spartans saw their winning streak come to an end as they fell 8-1 at the hands of Plattsburgh St. in Castleton on Tuesday. 

Castleton fell into an 0-3 hole after being swept in doubles play. Meghan Susslin and Sara Novenstern played to an 8-4 loss at first doubles, while Olga McIntyre and Kaydeen Juaire finished with the same score at second doubles. Ruby Bushey and Monika Plante teamed at third doubles where they fell 8-2.

In singles play, McIntyre earned a three set win at the third flight. The junior dropped her first set 5-7 before battling back to earn a 6-3 win in the second set. In a third set superbreaker, McIntyre edged out the Cardinals' Olivia Wyand 13-11 to earn the win. McIntyre has now won five straight matches at the third singles flight.

Castleton will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Johnson St. to rematch against the Badgers. Castleton fell to the squad earlier this season 6-3.
