Castleton, Vt. – The Spartans put forth a dominating effort in the day's opening match against Green Mountain, winning 3-1, but couldn't take a set from Colby-Sawyer as they fell 3-0 in North Atlantic Conference Action. 

Castleton matched a season-high with 48 kills and hit .188 with 76 digs against the Eagles. The Spartans won the first set 25-11, but dropped the second after being up early, 25-23. Castleton asserted itself in the final two sets, winning 25-13 and getting a kill from Brittany Brayman to finish off Green Mountain 25-21 in the fourth. 

The sophomore led the offense with 14 kills and added 12 digs and three aces for the double-double. Kaylee Pratt hit a team-high .440 and added 13 kills in the effort. Amanda Chambers led the defense with 22 digs and added nine kills while Michaela Babineau had a strong contest with 21 assists and six service aces. 

Green Mountain recorded 22 kills in match, as the Eagles dropped to 5-13 on the year Madison Wage tied for the team lead with five, and added five total blocks. Celeste Bowers led the defensive effort with 19 digs while setter Jennifer Seredejko finished with 15 digs and 13 assists. 

Facing conference front-runner Colby-Sawyer, the Spartans put up a fight in the opening set, making it a one-point contest, 8-7, through the first 15 points. However, the Chargers slowly pulled away and finished with the 25-16 victory. Castleton's offense struggled in the second set as the team fell 25-7. Colby-Sawyer took the final set by a 25-11 margin to earn the win and improve to 17-8 overall and 4-0 in the NAC. 

Emilee McBride paced the Charger offense with 14 kills while hitting .550, and added six total blocks. Ally LeBruno finished with a team-high 11 digs while Laura Smolinski led the offense with 33 assists. 

Castleton recorded just seven kills in the contest, with three coming from Cassidy Tedeschi. The freshman also added four digs and an ace. Kristi Lawless led the defense with eight digs while Michaela chipped in with five digs and three assists.
