Canton, N.Y. - The Castleton women's volleyball team dropped a pair of contests in a tri-match at SUNY-Canton, 3-0 and 3-1, to fall to 0-2 on the season.

The Spartans faced host SUNY-Canton in the opener and couldn't get a good rhythm going, as they dropped the match 25-8, 25-7, 25-10. Freshman Amanda Chambers (Lake George, N.Y.) led the offense with five kills while junior Ruth Tomlinson (Huntington, Vt.) finished with eight digs.

Castleton came back stronger in against NHTI, dropping the first two set 25-23 and 25-21 before taking the third 25-16. The comeback attempt failed though as the Spartans fell 25-16 in the fourth set. Freshman Patrice Herrington (Cambridge, N.Y.) had 14 digs in the match while Sarah Wheeler (Kinderhook, N.Y.) led the offense with 11 kills.
