NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Spartans couldn't find the net on Sunday afternoon and dropped a 10-0 decision to top-ranked Norwich at Kreitzberg Arena in ECAC East action.

Castleton was shut out for the first time in four games and drops to 6-12 overall and 5-7 in conference play. No. 1 Norwich improves to 16-2-1 and 12-0-1 in ECAC East action with the victory.

The Cadets got on the board early and often, scoring twice in the game's first nine minutes and finished the first period with a 3-0 advantage. Norwich added to their lead just 1:19 into the second, and that spelled the end of the day for freshman goalie Paula Stephens (Seattle, Wash.).

Junior Katharyn Dembowski (Elkridge, Md.) took over for the remainder of the game and made 23 saves over the final 38:41 of the contest while giving up six more Cadet scores for the 10-0 final.

Castleton finished the game with just five shots, compared to 45 for host Norwich. Kelly Fisk (Hannibal, N.Y.) stopped all five shots to earn the shutout for the Cadets.

The Spartans return to action on Friday when they travel down to New York City to take on Manhattanville at 7 p.m.
