Box Score LYNDON, Vt. – Lyndon secured its first-ever North Atlantic Conference playoff berth by topping Castleton 92-55 Saturday at Stannard Gymnasium.
With the victory, Lyndon ends it regular season with an overall record of 11-14 and a mark of 10-4 in the NAC, while Castleton finishes 14-11, 9-5.
The win also gives the Hornets sole possession of second place in the conference and a bye in the first round of the NAC playoffs, which get underway on Tuesday. Lyndon will remain idle until Friday, Feb. 25 when it takes part in the tournament semifinal at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. Castleton earns the fourth seed, and will host a quarterfinal match up on Tuesday versus fifth-seeded University of Maine-Farmington at a time to be determined.
Phil Warrick and Jason Gray tossed in 16 points each to lead the Hornets while Ben Sackett and Rob Alers chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively. Logan Calkins grabbed seven rebounds for Lyndon, Jose Fortunato dished out six assists and Antonio Mena collected three steals.
Jared Paul had 14 points for the Spartans, Kyle Bennett came off the bench to grab a team-high six rebounds while Tyler Ackley and Greg Hughes handed out three assists apiece.
