Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Freshman Kristy Pinkham (Brandon, Vt.) scored a pair of goals to lead Castleton State College to a 4-2 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
Pinkham gave Castleton a 2-0 lead at the 20:04 mark after Rachel Preusser (Craryville, N.Y.) set the tone just over six minutes into the contest. Preusser's 14th of the season came on a Mercedes Maltbie (Warrensburg, N.Y.) helper.
Lily Barry (Hermon, Maine) sliced the deficit in half with five minutes remaining before halftime, converting a Kaitlin Bullen (Farmington, Maine) penalty corner into her 10th goal of the season.
Castleton expanded its lead with a pair of second-half scores. Kealy Chipman (Bellows Falls, Vt.) blasted in a long pass from Caitlin Briggs (Germantown, N.Y.) at 39:38 and Pinkham teed off on Presseur's penalty corner to push the command to 4-1.
Chelsea Morley (York, Maine) chipped in to make it 4-2 with less than four minutes remaining.
Curran Brierley (East Hampton, N.Y.) made four saves in the loss, while Bridget Dusha (Greenwich, N.Y.) stopped seven shots in the win.
Castleton evens its overall mark at 7-7, while improving to a perfect 5-0 in conference play and will take on Thomas at 11 am tomorrow.
