Castleton Swept in Non-Conference Tri-Match

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - The Castleton State College women's volleyball team was swept on Saturday afternoon in a tri-match at Mt. Holyoke falling to Elms, 3-2, by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 22-25, 15-17 in match one and losing to Mt. Holyoke, 3-0, by scores of 25-13, 25-12 and 25-12 in non-conference action.

The Spartans fall to 2-7 overall on the season.

MATCH ONE: Elms 3, Castleton 2

Freshman Grace Schreiber (Cheshire, Conn.) led the offensive attack with 15 kills, one assist, four digs, two block solos and one block assist. Ashley Kepaa (No. Attleboro, Mass.) finished with 13 kills, one block solo and a team-high 37 digs. Freshman Chelsea Schlosser (Endicott, N.Y.) dished out a team-high 27 assists, compiled three service aces, 11 digs and one block solo. Sarah Wheeler (Kinderhook, N.Y.) had 21 digs and one block solo.

MATCH TWO: Mt. Holyoke 3, Castleton 0

Schlosser handed out 11 assists, two service aces and 11 digs while fellow classmate Schreiber had a team-high nine kills, one assist, five digs and one block solo. Kepaa had four kills and nine digs.

Castleton returns to action on October 2 in a quad-match at Glenbrook Gymnasium hosting Husson at 10:00 a.m. and Maine Maritime at 12:00 p.m. Green Mountain will also play Maine Maritime and Husson at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. respectively.
