Castleton Falls to Cobleskill

CASTLETON, Vt. - Senior setter/libero Krista Grady (Schenectedy, N.Y.) dished out 16 assists and compiled 14 digs to lead Cobleskill over Castleton, 3-1, on Thursday night at Glenbrook Gymnasium by scores of 25-17, 25-14, 22-25 and 25-15 in non-conference action.

The Fighting Tigers improve to 4-7 overall snapping a seven-match losing streak. The Spartans fall to 2-5.

Brooke Burke (Lansing, N.Y.), Elizabeth Stap (Pine Bush, N.Y.), Maggie Trombly (Chateaugay, N.Y.) all tied for the team-lead in kills with seven apiece. Trombly led Cobleskill 18 digs while Nancy Stephens (Warnerville, N.Y.) finished second with 17 total. From the service line, Megan Leonard (Knox, N.Y.) had a team-high six service aces.

Castleton was led by Ashley Kepaa (No. Attleboro, Mass.) who had seven kills, one service ace, 13 digs and one block solo. Freshman Chelsea Schlosser (Endicott, N.Y.) had two kills, a match-high 17 assists and a team-high eight service aces and 16 digs. Freshman Sarah Wheeler (Kinderhook, N.Y.) finished with six kills, four service aces and 13 digs.

The Spartans return to action on Saturday, September 25 at Mt. Holyoke in a tri-match with match one against Elms at 2:00 and match two against the host at 4:00 p.m.
