Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton State College women's volleyball team went 0-2 on Saturday afternoon as the Spartans hosted a quad match with North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opponents Green Mountain, Husson and Maine Maritime competing.
After the quad, Castleton is 2-9 overall on the season and 0-2 in the NAC. Green Mountain falls to 4-11 and 0-2 in the NAC. Husson improves to 14-2 (2-0 NAC) while Maine Maritime jumps to 10-6 (2-0 NAC).
Husson 3, Castleton 0 (25-23, 25-17, 26-24)
Setter Aleta Johnson (Milton, N.H.) led the Eagles over the Spartans with a game-high 20 assists alongside three service aces, three digs and one block assist. Johnson facilitated an offense that had three players with at least five kills. Athena Beaulieu (Gorham, Maine) turned in a stellar defensive performance with five digs, one block solo and four block assists. On offense, Beaulieu had three kills and one service ace.
For Castleton, Ashley Kepaa (No. Attleboro, Mass.) paced the offense with 10 kills, six assists and one service ace. Freshman Chelsea Schlosser (Endicott, N.Y.) had six kills, a team-high nine assists, two service aces and six digs.
Maine Maritime 3, Castleton 0 (25-11, 25-16, 29-27)
Lail had a match-high 12 kills guiding the Mariners offense past Castleton. Lail also finished with one assist, two service aces, five digs and two block solos. Dixon dished out a match-high 10 assists – in addition to – three kills, one service ace, nine digs and one block solo. Sakahara had a match-high 16 digs, two kills, two assists and two service aces.
Kepaa led the offense again with 10 kills in the loss, three assists, one service ace, seven digs and one block solo. Alyssa Sherman (Argyle, N.Y.) had a team-high 15 digs with three kills and one service ace. Schlosser had a team-high nine assists.
