Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – Sophomore middle hitter Ashley Kepaa (No. Attleboro, Mass.) and freshmen setter Chelsea Schlosser (Endicott, N.Y.) combined for 15 kills, 28 assists and 22 digs to lead the Castleton women's volleyball team over Southern Vermont, 3-0, by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 20-25 in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Glenbrook Gymnasium on Dig Pink Night and Senior Night.
The Spartans improve to 6-10 overall while the Mountaineers drop to 12-6.
Before the game, Castleton's senior Jennifer Hill (Winterport, Maine) was honored for her efforts and contributions towards the Spartans women's volleyball program.
Kepaa compiled a team-high 10 kills, had 12 assists, one service ace, 11 digs and a match-high three block solos to pace Castleton offensively. Schlosser turned in five kills, a match-high 16 assists, one service ace and tied for the team-lead in digs with 11 on the night. Freshman Grace Schreiber (Cheshire, Conn.) pitched-in with nine kills offensively.
For Southern Vermont, Ashliy Veliz (Glendale, Calif.) paced the offense with seven kills, three service aces and a match-high 15 digs. Setter Hershey Canta (Bataan, Philippines) facilitated the offense with nine assists alongside two digs. Rita Hall (Temple Hill, Md.) chipped in with six kills while Joa Claircius (Clermont, Fla.) added five.
The Spartans return to action, on the road, on Saturday, October 23 in a tri-match against host Maine Farmington at 12:00 p.m. and Green Mountain at 2:00 p.m.
