Castleton Falls 3-1 at Cobleskill

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Castleton State College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 non-conference decision to SUNY-Cobleskill Thursday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium.

With the loss Castleton falls to 5-10 while Cobleskill improves to 8-11.

Cobleskill received a strong outing from senior setter Krista Grady (Schenectady, N.Y.) who had 19 assists along with four kills and six digs to key the home team while sophomore outside hitter Maggie Trombly (Chateaugay, N.Y.) chipped in six kills, 11 digs and two service aces on the evening. Fighting Tiger senior libero Nancy Stephens (Warnerville, N.Y.) was also a factor in the match with 15 digs and a service ace.

Castleton was led by sophomore middle hitter Ashley Kepaa (North Attleboro, Mass.) who played a fine all-around match with: 15 digs, seven kills, four service aces, three total blocks and an assist on the evening.

The Spartans will next be action on Tuesday October 19th when they host Southern Vermont College with first serve at 7:00 p.m. The match is part of "Dig Pink", a nationwide initiative to raise breast cancer awareness through the sport of volleyball. Castleton will be selling pink wrist bands for $2 apiece to help raise funds. Donations are also being accepted online.
