Box Score Castleton, VT - The Castleton State College men's basketball team dropped a 103-68 non-conference match-up to visiting Colby-Sawyer Thursday night at Glenbrook Gymnasium.
Castleton jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a Seth Harrington lay-up off the opening tip, but it was all Colby-Sawyer from that point on, as the Chargers used a 14-2 run over the next 3:21 to take the lead for good. The Chargers led by as many as 21 during the first half, before settling in to a 53-36 lead at intermission. Will Bardaglio scored 11 first-half points as Colby-Sawyer sizzled from the field making 20-of-37 (54.1%) from the field and 7-of-11 (63.6%) from beyond the three-point stripe.
The 9-3 Chargers tallied 38 points in the paint and received 43 points off its bench. Bardaglio led four Chargers in double figures with 17 on 6-of-9 shooting, including a 4-for-6 performance from three-point land. Joining Bardaglio in double figures were Andrew Cousins and James Tobin with 15 each, and Jon Chaloux with 13.
Kevin Cayea led Castleton with 11 points and five assists, while Marcus hss added 10 points and eight rebounds for the 1-11 Spartans.
Castleton returns to action next Tuesday, January 20 when the Spartans play host to North Atlantic Conference foe, Lyndon State at 7:30. Colby-Sawyer will host Anna Maria College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
