Box Score Bangor, ME-The Castleton State College men's basketball team lost for the first time in five games 86-83 at Husson College in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play.
The Spartans held a 43-35 edge at halftime, shooting 59% from the field (17 for 29) and 57% (8 for 14) from threee-point range. In the second-half the Eagles turned up the defensive pressure and forced 15 Spartan turnovers en route to the win. Castleton wound up shooting 57% from the field on the game, but were outscored 51-40 in the second half.
Brock Bradford scored a game-high 24 points, including 8 for 10 from the free throw line, and dished out eight assists to lead the 14-8 (8-2 NAC) Eagles.
Josh Howe led the Saprtans, matching Bradford's 24 points, shooting 8 for 12 from the field and 4 for 5 from beyond the three-point stripe. Chris Young notched his third straight double-double, scoring 19 points and hauling in 11 boards in the loss. Richard Reilly also tossed in 19, while Joey Farley added 16. Castleton falls to 13-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play with the loss.
The Spartans will be home for the remainder of the regular season beginning with Elms College on Friday, February 15 at 8:00 pm.
