Box Score Castine, ME-Kevin Cayea scored a game-high 22 points to lead four Spartans in double figures as Castleton defeated Maine Maritime 77-69 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action.
Cayea staked Castleton to a 33-32 halftime lead with 14 first-half points, including a 4 for 7 performance from beyond the three-point stripe. The junior guard ended the game with six triples on ten attempts.
Richard Reilly knocked in 7 for 11 from the free-throw line, including several down the stretch as he followed Cayea in the scoring column with 17 points. Reilly also added 10 assists as the senior guard closes in on Castleton's all-time record. Joing Reilly in the double-double fun was Chris Young as he added 11 points and 18 rebounds for the 13-7 (6-3 NAC) Spartans. Joey Farley canned four three-pointers to round out the double-figure scorers with 16 points.
Neil Stewart and Jake Manner each turned in double-doubles for the Mariners, each scoring 10 points, with Stewart hauling in 11 boards and Manner 12. Adam Haskell scored a team-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds as Maine Maritime falls to 8-11 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
Castleton will square off with Husson on Saturday, February 9 at 4:00 pm.
