Box Score Castleton, VT - The Castleton State College men's basketball team lost for the fifth consecutive game, 103-71 to visiting Middlebury College at Glenbrook Gymnasium.
Middlebury raced out to a 49-28 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the lopsided win. The Panthers placed 12 players in the scoring column, including six in double-figures to improve to 5-2 on the season. Kyle Dudley scored a team-high 15 points, while Ben Rudin, Andrew Locke and Jamal Davis chipped in 13, 12 and 10 respectively. Tim Edwards was the only Panther starter not to register double digit scoring, but he did dish out 10 assists. Ryan Sherry posted a double-double 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
Castleton's Seth Harrington scored a game-high 16 points, but it was not enough as the Spartan defense struggled to stop the potent Middlebury attack. Marcus Hass joined Harrington in double digits with 14 points and six rebounds, while Cameron Bodine chipped in 12 off the bench.
Castleton falls to 0-5 to start the season for the first time since the 1998-99 season. The Spartans will take to the road for their final two games of the semester, squaring off with Skidmore College on Saturday at 2:00, before wrapping up the semester at SUNYIT on Thursday at 7:00.
Middlebury is back in action Thursday when the Panthers play host to Johnson State at 7:00 pm.
