Box Score Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College men's basketball dropped a 113-64 non-conference game with Plymouth State University in the Glenbrook Gymnasium.
Plymouth State raced out to a 67-26 halftime lead on the strength of 14 three pointers over the first 20 minutes. Ben Huntington scored 19 of his game-high 26 in the first half, including a 5-for-7 performance from beyond the three-point arc. The Panthers shot a blistering 59% (26-44) from the field and 64% (14-22) from three point land to put the game out of reach early on.
Huntington finished with six three pointers on the evening, while teammate Jason O'Keefe added 15 points including a 4-for-8 performance from beyond the arc. Plymouth State saw 16 different players reach the scorebook.
Freshman Steve Velazquez led Castleton with 17 points including 4-for-7 from three point land. Seth Harrington was the only other Spartan in double figures with 10. Marcus Hass added nine points and a game-high eight rebounds for 0-4 Castleton.
Plymouth State improves to 2-2 on the season with the win and will travel to New Hampshire Technical Institute December 2 to participate in the Jacob's Bridge through Autism Classic. The Panthers will take on Colby-Sawyer at 7:30 pm.
Castleton is back in action December 2 when the Spartans play host to Middlebury College at 7:30 pm.
