Castleton falls 88-84 to Maine-Farmington

Castleton, VT-Joey Farley scored a team-high 21 points off the bench, but it was not enough as Castleton State College fell 88-84 to Maine-Farmington in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.

Farmington senior, Sean Fry, scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the 8-7 (4-1 NAC) Beavers to the win. Fry, who needed 19 points to reach the 1,000 career-point plateau, knocked a foul-line jumper with just over 12 minutes to go to achieve the milestone.

Castleton trailed 52-48 at halftime, and had no answer for Matt St. John over the first 20 minutes of play. St. John scored all 26 of his points in the first-half, canning 8 of 9 from beyond the three-point arc.

Richard Reilly added 15 points and five assists as Castleton falls to 9-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Kevin Cayea and Alden Gregory rounded out the Spartans in double-figures with 15 and 11 respectively.

Andrew Dean and Isaac Hutchinson joined Fry and St. John in double-figures with 11 and 10 respectively.

Castleton returns to action on Friday, January 25 at 6:30 pm when they travel to NAC foe, Lesley University. Farmington will take on Husson in a mid-week NAC tilt, January 22 at 5:30 pm.
