Box Score Castleton, VT-Jeremy Jorgensen scored a team-high 24 points and hauled in nine rebounds to lead Castleton to a 90-83 victory at Glenbrook Gymnasium. With the nine rebounds Jorgensen ties the record for most career rebounds at Castleton with 840, set by Mike Whiting in 1975.
The Spartans jumped out to a 43-33 halftime lead, and held Lyndon State to 36% from the field, including 1-11 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Hornets would not go away, as Brad Durr poured in 18 of his game-high 28 points in the second half. Durr also grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds.
Castleton would not be denied, however as they shot a scorching 58% from the field and 47% (8-17) from three-point land. Richard Reilly followed Jorgensen in the scoring column with 21, while Kevin Cayea and Joey Farley chipped in 13 and 10 respectively.
Kali Stoddard-Imari also had a double-double for the 9-12 Hornets, scoring 20 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Ryan Somers was the only other Hornet in double figures with 15 off the bench.
With the win Castleton improves to 11-10 on the season. The Spartans return to Glenbrook Gymnasium Saturday, February 10 at 1:00 PM when they host NAC foe, Lesley.
