Box Score Johnson, VT-Rich Reilly became the newest member of the Castleton State College 1,000 career point club as he netted 20 in a win at Johnson State. Reilly, just a junior, needed 16 points entering the contest and reached the milestone midway through the second half.
It looked as though Reilly would have to wait until the Spartans returned home to reach the milestone as Castleton struggled from the field in the first half. The Badgers held Castleton to just 26% shooting from the field and 13% from three-point range in the opening frame. Johnson State rode the hot-hand of Charlie Viana to a 39-31 halftime lead. The junior guard poured in 22 first-half points on his way to a game-high 26.
Castleton would come out and assert themselves in the second half as they outscored the hosts 49-24 in the final 20 minutes. The Spartans drained five of six three-point attempts and shot 51% from the field to open up the score and cruise to victory.
Josh Howe scored a team-high 21 off the bench for 10-10 (6-6 NAC) Castleton, while Jeremy Jorgesen added 10 points and nine rebounds to aid in the win.
Bobby Shedd was the only other Badger in double-figures with 11 as Johnson State falls to 4-17 overall and 1-11 in the NAC.
Castleton returns home Thursday night at 7:00 PM when they host non-conference foe, Lyndon State. Johnson State is back in action Friday when they host Lesley University at 6:00 PM.
