Rutland, VT-Jillian Donnelly scored a pair of goals and dished out one assist in Salve Regina's 7-4 triumph at the Rutland Regional Fieldhouse. Castleton's Nicole Adams had two goals and two assists, but it wasn't enough to combat the 7-16-1 Seahawks.
Salve Regina jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period as Donnelly struck for both of her goals inside the first 10 minutes of play. Caitlin Campbell tacked on the third goal of the period to give the Seahwaks the early cushion..
Castleton came back in the second, scoring three goals of their own, two by Adams and one more by Maryanne Diehm. Michelle DeLiso would score her first goal of the season to give Salve Regina the 4-3 lead headed into the final 20 minutes of action.
In the third Campbell would score the game winner, before Adrianna Riggio would pull the Spartans to within one with 15 minutes to play. The Seahawks would tack on a pair of insurance goals with under ten minutes to go when Ally Carr sent home both unassisted.
Castleton falls to 5-19 overall and 2-17 in ECAC East play. The Spartans return to the ice on Thursday the 22nd when they travel to SUNY-Oswego for a 7:00 PM face-off. Salve Regina wraps up their regular season with the win and improves to 5-14 in conference play.
