Rutland, VT-Sarah Tracy recorded a hat-trick and Danielle Giancola stopped 17 shots to lead New England College to an 8-0 shut-out win over Castleton at the Rutland Regional Fieldhouse.
Sarah Graham opened the scoring in the first period when she scored her ninth goal of the year on the power-play to give the Pilgrims the early lead. The score would remain 1-0 until the second period when Tracy tallied her first mark, followed by Elizabeth Ross sending home her 19 th of the season.
Castleton would trail 3-0 until the third period when the Pilgrims poured it on, scoring five in the final 13:29. Graham tacked on her second of the game and Tracy finished off her hat-trick with a pair of third-period goals. Maria Nasta and Jaime Collins would round out the scoring in the period for the 9-12-1 (9-6-1 ECAC East) Pilgrims.
Vanessa Carter stopped 21 shots, before being lifted for Kalla Robb in the third period. Robb allowed four goals and stopped five shots for the 5-16 (2-14 ECAC East) Spartans. Castleton returns to the Rutland Regional Fieldhouse tomorrow afternoon when they host St. Anselm at 2:00 PM. New England College travels to St. Michael's tomorrow for a 3:00 PM face-off.
