Castleton enters the holiday break on a high note, 103-73 over Lyndon State

Castleton, VT-Rubin Jennings scored a career-high 23 points and hauled in five rebounds to lead the Castleton State College men's basketball team to a convincing 103-73 non-conference victory over visiting Lyndon State. Castleton raced out to a 60-28 halftime lead, as the Spartans shot a blistering 55% from the field and 73% (8-11) from beyond the 3-point arc. Castleton reached the century mark for the second-consecutive game, and improves to 4-4 with the win.

Junior guard, Josh Howe scored 13 of his 19 points during the first half including a 3-3 performance from three-point range. Howe finished 5-6 from distance for the game.

Noah Fink notched a double-double, scoring a game-high 30 points and hauling in 12 rebounds for 3-7 Lyndon State. Joining Fink in double-figure scoring for the Hornets was Michael Paul with 12 and Cesar Martinez with 10. Martinez also added six assists and six rebounds in the losing effort.

Castleton stretched its lead to 44 with just under 11 minutes to play in the contest, before cruising to the victory. Joey Farley joined Howe and Jennings in double-digits as the senior guard chipped in 20 off the bench, including 3-4 form three-point land. Castleton ended the game at 53% from the field and 67% (12-18) from distance.

Both Castleton and Lyndon State are off for the holiday break and will return to action on January 5 when they compete in the Vermont State Colleges Tournament. Castleton squares off versus Vermont Technical while Lyndon State duels with Johnson State in the opening round.
