Rutland, VT-The Castleton State College women's ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with Norwich University in ECAC East action at the Rutland Regional Fieldhouse. Castleton's record goes to 1-2-2 overall and 0-0-2 in conference play. Norwich moves to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference action.

Castleton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period on Katelyn Greeene's first goal of the season at 10:51. The goal came 10:51 into the game assisted by Steph Purinton and Nicole Adams.

The Spartans would tack on another in the second period, this time short-handed from Maryanne Diehm just less than two minutes into the second frame. Adrianna Riggio and Cassandra Koehne assisted on the goal as Castleton continued to avoid trouble as Norwich pressed the action. The Cadets would rifle off 20 shots on goal in the period. Castleton goalie, Vanessa Carter was up to the task however, turning away all 20.

Castleton appeared to be headed to its first conference win of the season until Kelsey Cone cut the lead to one with a little more than four minutes remaining in the contest. Sophie Leclerc and Juanita Benavides assisted on the power-play strike. With 2:27 remaining in the contest Leclerc would score the equalizer, once again on the power-play assisted by Cone and Danielle LaSpina.

The Spartans would test Norwich goalie, Cindy Fortin 13 times in the final period but could not find the back of the net. In overtime each team would muster a pair of shots but both goalies turned them away.

Fortin ended the contest with 31 saves, while Carter stopped 34. The Spartans are back in action on November 30 when they host ECAC East foe New England College at 7:00 pm. Norwich is off until December 1 when they host UMass-Boston at 3:00 pm.
