Castleton, Carter shut-out Buffalo State 4-0.

Rutland, VT-The Castleton State College women's hockey team won a non-conference game versus Buffalo State at the Rutland Regional Fieldhouse 4-0. Vanessa Carter stopped 28 shots to earn the shut-out victory and the Spartans received single goals from four different players.

Castleton opened the scoring 16:12 into the first period when Maryanne Diehm sent home a pass from Katelyn Greene. The Spartans took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Greene would score a goal of her own in the second period while Adrianna Riggio and Andee Hurlbert tacked on third period insurance goals for the 5-12 Spartans.

Buffalo State's Shannon Anesetti stopped 22 shots before giving way to Rachel Bennett with 9:30 remaining in the third period. Bennett would record a pair of saves and allow the final Spartan goal.

The Bengals fall to 6-9-1 with the loss. The two teams will face-off once again tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 at the Rutland Regional Fieldhouse.
