Henniker, NH-Castleton fell for the second time over the weekend to an ECAC East opponent, losing 5-0 to New England College on Saturday. The 5-0 loss was an improvement over the 2005-06 season ending defeat in the conference tournament, a game which the Spartans lost 11-1.

The Pilgrims got on the board at 18: 12 in the first half on an unassisted goal by Kristina Pauls (So., D, Danbury, CT). The Spartans could not manage to get a score although they had chances. In the second period NEC continued firing, as freshman Danielle O'Leary (F., Clifton Park, NY) scored at 6:37 to put the Pilgrims up 2-0.

The Pilgrims' Liz Ross skated herself to a breakaway goal at 19:06 to make it 3-0 NEC. The barrage continued as Stephanie Lewis (Fr., F, Windsor, Nova Scotia) netted a power-play goal at 14:03, assisted by Jana Schneider (Fr., D, Elbridge, NY) and Sarah Tracey (So., F, Aurora, Ontario). The Spartans could not respond as Ross scored again at 11:14 to add an insurance goal.

NEC goalie Danielle Giancola (So., Toronto, Ontario) had eight saves in two periods, while Mary Roux (Fr., Auburn, MA) came into the third period to make nine saves. Castleton's Vanessa Carter (Jr., Summerstown, Ontario) made 38 stops for the Spartans. The Pilgrims return to action on Friday, November 10th as they travel to the University of Southern Maine for a 7:00 pm face-off. Castleton is back on the ice for their home opener on Saturday, November 11 at 6:00 PM when they play host to M.I.T.
