Steve Austin

Steve Austin came on as the head athletic trainer at Castleton in 2014 after spending 14 years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Loyola University Maryland. With this position, Austin serves as the primary trainer for the men’s ice hockey, baseball, volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country.

During his tenure with the Greyhounds, Austin was the primary trainer for the men's basketball program while helping with numerous more programs. Additionally, he was the coordinator for First Aid and CPR training for the entire athletic staff while also initiating the ImPACT Concussion Program for the athletic department. Prior to his full-time status, he was a part-time assistant and graduate assistant athletic trainer. He has also worked as the medical coordinator for the 2002 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Final Four and 2010 MAAC Swimming/Diving Championships.

Austin received a B.S. in athletic training from Castleton in 1996, and continued his education by obtaining a M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Loyola in Maryland in 2001. 

Steve is a member of the National, Mid-Atlantic and Maryland Athletic Trainers’ Associations.
