Sheila O'Connor

O’Connor brings more than 20 years of experience as an aquatic director and collegiate swim coach to her part-time position of Aquatics Specialist. 

Most recently she served as an aquatic specialist at the University of Rhode Island from 2009-2012. While there she served as the director of the pool’s Red Cross Learn to Swim Program, Director of the Tootell Aquatic Center Aquatic Exercise Program and was a Water Safety Instructor Trainer. 

Prior to Rhode Island, O’Connor worked from 1995-2006 at the University of Chicago as the head men’s and women’s swimming coach as well as on serving as an associate professor of physical education. 

O’Connor graduated from College of St. Catherine with a B.S. in exercise science in 1986 and received her master’s degree from Iowa State in 1988.
