Women Place Fourth at Vermont Colleges State Cross Country Championship

LYNDON, Vt. – Led by Kaylyn Crompton, who finished second overall, the Castleton women's cross country team placed fourth at the Vermont Colleges State Championship hosted at Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Saturday. 

Crompton crossed the line with the second-best individual time of 22:28.6 in the field of 52. Abigail French of St. Michael's College took the individual title with a winning time of 21:32.3.

Lydia Maier placed 15th in 24:20.0. Then, the duo of Ashley Darrell (24:20.0) and Emily Greene (24:36.0) placed 21st and 24th, respectively.

Emily Maier capped the competitors for the Spartans, finishing 30th with a time of 27:14.7.

Middlebury College took the team title with 32 points, led by all five of their scoring runners finishing in the top-11. The Panthers were followed by St. Michael College (46 points), Norwich University (80 points), Castleton University (82 points), Green Mountain College (131 points), and NVU-Lyndon (136 points). NVU-Johnson and Vermont Technical College also had runners competing in the meet.

The Spartans compete next at the Green Mountain College Invitational on Oct. 13 at 11 a.m.
