Women’s Skiing Places Second in Slalom on West Mountain

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. – Castleton's women's skiing team posted its second straight second-place finish on the slopes of West Mountain in the slalom event today.

The second-place finish marked the squad's third consecutive runners-up finish in the slalom this season. Brown edged out the Spartans for the top spot in a time of 7:19.36, while Babson (7:34.98), UConn (7:46.36) and St. Anselm (7:46.91) filled out the top five.

The freshman duo of Linn Ljungemo and Anna-Julia Storch paced the Spartans once again, both of them cracking the overall top ten. Ljungemo led the squad finishing fourth overall with a combined time of 1:50.20, while Storch was just behind in seventh in a time of 1:51.44. Senior Simona Croccolo was just outside the top ten, finishing eleventh with a combined time of 1:52.84. Lisa Davis finished 20th overall with a time of 1:56.49, while Kirsten Kruk rounded out the top five, crossing the line in a time of 1:56.94, just behind Davis in 22nd.   

The Spartans return to action next weekend when they travel to Lake Placid, N.Y. to race in the giant slalom and slalom on the slopes of Whiteface Mountain.
