BOSTON, Mass. – The Castleton University men's track and field team brought three members to compete against over 200 competitors at the David Hemery Invite, and all three notched new personal bests as the Spartans wrapped up their indoor regular season in strong fashion on Saturday at Boston University.
Grandon Smith led the way for Castleton, taking first overall in his flight in the 800-meter run with a Division III New England-qualifying time of 1:57.65. Smith also advanced to the New England Championships earlier this season with his 2:36.73-mark in the 1000-meter run at the Middlebury Winter Classic.
Ryan Barry also enjoyed a big day for Castleton, setting a program record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24 seconds. The sophomore also clocked in at 7.62 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
Robert Novobilsky capped off the strong performance with a new personal best in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line at 54.99 seconds.
Smith will continue his season next weekend at the Division III New England Championships at Tufts University.
