Men’s Soccer Takes Down Becker 3-1

LEICESTER, Mass. – Senior Jack Kingdon provided the spark for the Castleton University men's soccer team with two second-half goals in a 3-1 victory on the road at Becker College on Sunday.

The win snaps a four-game losing streak for the Spartans, who go into the final three games of the regular season with an overall record of 4-11-0 and 1-5-0 in Little East Conference (LEC) play.

Becker evened the game up at one with a 52nd-minute goal, but Kingdon answered 10:27 later to re-gain the led. He accepted a pass from Rida Kori before taking a touch to his right and blasting a shot into the back of the net from 15 yards out. He then added an insurance marker after cutting through the Hawk defensive line 2:11 later with an assist from Jacob Godfrey.

Eric Maxham got his second goal of the year to give Castleton a lead at the 11:34 mark when he intercepted a goal kick.

Isaiah McCaskill tied it for Becker with an assist from Colby Koch at 51:35. It was the eighth goal of the season for McCaskill.

The Hawks had a chance to pull within one with just over 21 minutes remaining, but a strike from Chris Antonelli sailed just over the bar. Becker also put on a bit for its second goal in the 78th minute, but Spartan freshman keeper Andres Soto-Burgos made a diving save on Seidon Nemeth.

Soto-Burgos finished with four saves to pick up his third win of the season. In the other end, Sam Majewski turned aside seven shots for Becker (1-14-1).

Castleton earned the narrow edge in total shots at 25-13 while also winning the battle in corner kicks, 4-3.

Men's soccer will host Sage in a makeup contest at Dave Wolk Stadium on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
