Nordic Skiing Competes at Clarkson Invitational

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Spartans competed at the Clarkson Invitational last weekend with two skiers finishing in the top-40 in the freestyle race and three in the classic race.

Castleton was led by Thomas Rizza who placed 34th overall with a time of 28:41 in the 7K freestyle race, while teammate Evan Hill was close behind him in a time of 29:23. Sophomore Grandon Smith placed 45th with a time of 33:16 while Keegan Cummings just trailed in 34:31. 

For the women, Hannah Saroff finished 28th out of 42 women with a time of 36:01. A day later she impressed by taking 17th out of 37 skiers in the 7.7K classic with a time of 35:56. 

In the classic for the men, Hill led the team by placing 28th of 48 competitors. Smith was the second-fastest, finishing 34th in his time of 31:47, while Cummings was 37th in 32:48.
