A native of Ontario, Coach Moran is entering his 17th season working with the Castleton hockey program.
In 2012, Moran was honored with the prestigious John “Snooks” Kelly Founders Award by the American Hockey Coaches’ Association (AHCA) during the AHCA’s annual convention in Naples, Florida. The award is named after the famed Boston College coach, and honors those people in the coaching profession who have contributed to the overall growth and development of the sport of ice hockey in the United States.
Once a talented player in his own right, Moran played for Division I St. Lawrence in the ECAC and spent four years as a professional, including a stint in the AHL.
After his playing career was over, Moran coached at both Saint Michael’s College and Norwich University. Moran also helped start the Rutland Amateur Hockey Association (RAHA), a youth hockey program, as a coach and board member.
Moran was an integral part of bringing ice hockey to Castleton, and has been a member of the coaching staff since its inception in 2003.
