Jeremiah "Jay" Condon enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Spartan men's and women's track & field teams in 2022-23. Under Condon, Castleton athletes have broken 89 indoor and outdoor records, 14 have earned All-LEC accolades, two have received All-New England Athlete designation, and 6 athletes in 7 different events have earned All USTFCCCA Regional Honors.
Condon helped Castleton land its first ever LEC Champion in 2021 as David Harvey won the 110 meter hurdles at the outdoor championships.
In 2020, Condon was voted Coach of the Year by the Castleton Student Government Association. The award is given annually to a coach who contributes time and energy to the student body.
In his first 5 years at Castleton, 20 student-athletes have earned Division III New England College qualifying marks across the indoor and outdoor seasons as well as two relay teams. Condon's student-athletes have crushed it in the classroom as well; the 2019-20 Women's Team received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for its 3.53 grade point average. Since then the Women’s Team has added this award every year. The Men’s Team earned this award for the first time in program history in the 2020-21 Season. The Men’s Team followed that up with the same award in 2021-22.
Previously, Condon was the Head Varsity Track & Field Coach at Granville High School in Granville, N.Y. Coaching at Granville High School from 2006 to 2012, first as an assistant and then as the head coach. Condon then returned for the 2017-18 academic year.
From 2015 to 2017, Condon was the Assistant Track & Field Coach at Hudson Falls High School in Hudson Falls, N.Y. First working with student-athletes in the jumping events before taking over the throws event.
From 2012 to 2014 Condon was an Assistant Track & Field Coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y. While at RPI Condon coached the hurdle events, coaching one Division III All-American, three conference champions, and one ECAC Champion.
Condon obtained his Master of Sport Science Degree in Sport Coaching from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala., in October 2007. He has been an elementary teacher within the Granville Central School District since 2005. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Childhood Education from The College of Saint Rose in December 2004. He was named the 2005 Student Association Advisor of the Year for successfully creating the club ice hockey team at The College of Saint Rose.
Condon holds a USATF Level 1 Certification, a USTFCCCA Jumping Events Specialist Certification, and a USTFCCCA Advanced Strength and Conditioning Certification. He lives in Hudson Falls, N.Y., with his wife Sara and their daughter Makenna.
