Bill Silengo enters his fifth season as head coach of the Castleton men's ice hockey team in 2020-21.

Silengo's 2019-20 squad posted a record of 6-17-3. Following a strong debut season, Calvin Moïse was named NEHC Rookie of the Year. The season was highlighted by a road win over #2 Norwich. 

The 2018-19 Spartans went 4-17-4. Goaltender Wyatt Pickrell was named to the CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America Team to highlight a strong stretch of Spartan hockey academics. 

During the 2017-18 season, Silengo saw his team improve throughout the year and finish strong with one of its best games in the NEHC playoffs. Facing defending national champion Norwich, the Spartans battled the rivals into double overtime. Overall, Castleton finished 7-16-3 and won its annual host tournament, the WSYB/Catamount Radio Invitational, for the first time since 2012. Senior co-captain Ryan Mulder became the second player under Silengo's guidance to sign a professional contract in 2018. Silengo's squad continued to impress in the classroom, finishing with 14 NEHC All-Academic selections and winning the Castleton University President's Cup with the highest GPA. 

After a slow start in 2016-17, Silengo used the winter break to work with his players, and the team went 8-2-4 during the second half of the season, with the two losses coming against eventual national champion Norwich. The Spartans finished 11-10-6, earning a NEHC quarterfinal home game and advancing into the semifinals of the conference tournament. Two players were named NEHC All-Conference, senior captain Bart Moran signed a professional contract, and the team landed a league-high 18 members on the All-Academic Team.  

For two seasons, Silengo had been the assistant coach at Manhattanville College, a Division III member of ECAC West located in Purchase, N.Y. He managed team practices, meetings, and the budget, organized and trained the special teams units, and created team highlights and motivational videos following each game.

Silengo also conducted the academic guidance meetings and monitored the grades of the student-athletes on the team. The Manhattanville men's ice hockey team maintained the highest grade point average for any men's team on campus while Silengo managed the academic performance.

He also served as the assistant coach at Fredonia State in New York from 2012 to 2014. Silengo has been an on-ice instructor at Erik Nates Euro Hockey in Harrison, N.Y., since 2008, developing basic hockey skills for youth hockey players, and an evaluator and coach in the New England district of USA Hockey Select Festivals since 2012, grading the best 14-17 year-old hockey players in New England for the national festival.

Silengo played for Manhattanville College from 2008 to 2012, helping the Valiants win the ECAC West championship in the 2009-10 season and serving as captain during his senior year. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in management and history in 2012 and a Master of Science degree in sport business management in 2016, both from Manhattanville College.
